Ice Merchants is the first Portuguese film Nominated for an Oscar

For the first time in the history of Portuguese cinema, Ice Merchants, by João Gonzalez, is nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film! CINANIMA congratulates the entire team of this fantastic film that was shown at CINANIMA 2022!

Gonzalez’s film has had an amazing journey with many awards, incluing CINANIMA’s Distintion for Best Sound Design, is now nominated for the Oscar for the Best Short Film (Animated). Along with this portuguese movie, the film “An Ostrich Told Me the World is Fake and I think I Believe it” by Lachlan Pendragon, that was screened at CINANIMA 2022 and won the Honorable Mention in the Student Film Competition.
