Considered the father of Belgian animation, Raoul Servais – director, animator and illustrator, died on March 17, 2023 at his home in Leffinge, Belgium, aged 94.
Throughout his life, he made around 15 short films and one feature film, having been awarded several times, including the Palme d’Or award at the Cannes International Festival.
All that remains now is nostalgia and his legacy, which continues to inspire many filmmakers around the world. The CINANIMA team bids farewell, with great regret, to the artist who came more than once to our festival in Espinho, and sends our condolences to family and friends.
