On this late Sunday night, all movie lovers focused their attention on what is the largest and most high-profile awards ceremony of cinema. In this 86th edition of the Oscars, the nominees for Best Short Animation were Feral, by the Portuguese director Daniel Sousa. In 2012, he won the prize RTP: Onda Curta in CINANIMA . This is his sixth film and between some forty festivals where it has been screened, he has been collecting awards, from instance in Annecy International Animated Film Festival, in France, and the prize for best animated film at Anima Mundi, in Rio de Janeiro.

The other nominees were : Get a horse , by Lauren MacMullan, that was produced by Disney , Possessions , by the Japanese director Shuhei Morita , Room on the Broom , by Max Lang and Jan Lachauer , representing the UK . Mr. Hublot , by Laurent Witz and Alexander Espigares , is a co-production Franco -Luxembourg – and is the big winner in this category .
In the category Best Animated Film the nominees were : Ernest & Celestine , by Stéphane Aubier , Benjamin Renner , Vincent Patar (France ) , that is a film inspired by the delicate characters created by the Belgian illustrator Gabrielle Vincent . This delightful animation was displayed in the Pre – Opening of CINANIMA ‘s Edition in 2013, on the 10th November. This film tells the story of the conventional world of bears, which is hardly seen as a friend of a rat. But Ernest is a different bear, clown and musician, host small Celestine, an orphan who feels alone in the world of underground rodents . These two lonely will comfort and support each other, and confront the established order.
The Croods , Despicable Me 2 , The Wind Rises were the remaining films battling it out for the Oscar . However, the big winner in this category was Frozen, by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. Produced by Disney , this film is mainly based on the fairytale The Snow Queen, by Hans Christian Andersen .
